Bingham County Search and Rescue Collaboration 2021
Recently Dr. Bryce Burtenshaw and Dr. Cory Layton made a donation to Bingham County Search and Rescue, helping them obtain reflective shirts that help keep them safe while on scene.
On Thursday August 12, 2021, Grove City Dental had the pleasure of interviewing Bingham County Search and Rescue Commander Mike Fresh. Mike let us know that The Bingham County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Division was established in 1962. The Search and Rescue Division is a non-profit all volunteer organization, which operates under the authority of the Bingham County Sheriff's Office.
The Search and Rescue Division is comprised of 30 active members and 10 associate members. This melting pot of individuals are extensively trained and certified in search techniques, high angle rescue, swift water rescue, and water recovery equipment. Also using 4wheelers, side by sides, snow machines and drones to aid in rescue and recovery efforts. They are also affiliated with the National Association for Search & Rescue.
Commander Mike Fresh states “The members of this unit want to give back to their community. Donations like these allow us to work safe. We are a volunteer organization; members have purchased equipment that we need with their own money”. Bingham County Search and Rescue relies heavily on donations from businesses and individuals. “We hold an annual Lobster dinner that is set on the 3rd Saturday in February”. Fresh also stated “our goal is to be safe, quick and efficient”. Former commander Tom Igoe states “Our current unit has members with a wide spectrum of skills, knowledge and background”.
Despite demanding jobs, these team members form a cohesive unit, and its specialized resources stand ready 24 hours a day.
Our goal is to locate, render aid and provide quality professional, expedient service to persons in distress, minimize loss of life, injury, and property damage, and to provide professional body recovery services as needed.
Grove City Dental is looking forward to a continued collaboration with Bingham County Search and Rescue, giving back to the community that has welcomed them with open arms.
