How Crowns, Veneers, and Cosmetic Dentistry Can Help Your Smile
Having a confident smile has an impact on many aspects of the quality of someone’s life. If you are someone that looks in the mirror and feels less than comfortable with the way your smile looks, cosmetic dentistry can help. Whether you are in need of teeth whitening, veneers, or crowns, there are procedures and dental treatments that can give you the smile of your dreams.
Our office knows the importance of a having a beautiful smile and we would love to be a part of your journey to find one that you will enjoy sharing with the world. Here are a few of the cosmetic dental treatments that we specialize in and how they work:
Veneers
This is a thin outer covering that is created in the shape and color that you and your dentist agree would be the most aesthetically appealing. It acts as an “outer shell” to existing teeth. A small portion of the existing tooth is “slimmed down” to make room for the veneer to be placed over it. This can be done on one single tooth or can be done on many to completely change the look of your smile.
Crowns
Damaged teeth from either decay or injury are often replaced with a dental crown, which covers the entire tooth. The damaged part of the tooth is removed and the crown or “cap” is placed on top of it. They are custom designed to match the surrounding teeth in size, shape, and color. They are also designed to fit comfortably within your bite.
Dental Implants
This is the most common choice when replacing missing teeth. A titanium rod is placed and fused directly to the jawbone, which makes dental implants the most permanent choice for tooth replacement. Once the rod fuses with the bone, a cap (replacement tooth) is then fitted to the rod. These are also custom designed to match your surrounding teeth and can replace one or all of your teeth.
Gum Contouring
Many people have what is referred to as a “gummy” smile, which is where the gum line is extremely prominent. Or they have the opposite and have a receding gum line, which makes decay within the tooth at the gum line more likely. Both can be cosmetically fixed to give you confidence in the look and health of your gums and teeth.
Dentures
There are two types of dentures available, traditional and all on 4. Tradition is a removable dental appliance that custom made to fit your specific bite, provide support for the cheeks and lips, replace your natural teeth, and fit comfortably and securely. However, over time they may become worn down, loose, or even break. This is where all on 4 comes in, which is also referred to as “hybrid” dentures. Using the stability of dental implants and the structural support of dentures, the combination allows for all around sturdier dentures. By inserting 4 titanium implants into the jawbone it creates a foundation that is much stronger for the dentures and keeps them from sliding, slipping, or irritating the gums.
As you can see there are many options for cosmetic dental treatment that can help you get the smile of your dreams.
